Here is a break from the Pelini/Miles Saga.

Arkansas didn't really offer Nutt a two year extension.

I heard a theory today that makes sense. Nutt knew he was out at Arkansas 2 or 3 weeks ago, so he started putting feelers out (Sexton is good at that). Started to line up the deal with Ole Miss at that time, pending O's finish in Oxford. Arkansas had plans of getting rid of him for almost a month.

When he beat LSU to finish 8-4 and 17-7 over the last two years it was all the sudden a lot more difficult to fire him. It would look pretty bad to fire a coach following 8-4, 9-4 seasons.

Arkansas offered Nutt a 3.5M buyout if he agreed to say that he turned down a two year extension, thus you also get all the crap about I'm leaving for the good of the state. Bascially the 3.5M was to save face for the progam, there was never an extension offered. However, Nutt ended up getting last laugh by signing at Ole Miss 6 hours later with a pretty nice contract (and very low expectations).

Just a thought, I got tired of reading the same Miles/Pelini threads repeated over and over.

It just seemed hard to explain turning down a pay raise at Arkansas to go to Ole Miss for less.

Yeah thats not a bad theory, but I'm just sticking with Arkansas begging for HDN's forgiveness by offering more money after the game on Saturday.
