Fortunate enough that I can stay on my parents plan for another year for free.

You pay more than that, your company just covers it for you. I'm the same way. But if my company didn't cover this expense, I would expect more in my salary to offset the costs.

and that is not for a wife and kids nor is that the full cost. Employer has to be paying some of that.
