I was also afraid that my kid would inherit my and my wife's mental "issues."
I mean, neither my wife nor I are poster children for good mental health.
And yet, wa-la, my kid is incredibly well adjusted, in sound mental health. Maybe she just observed my and my wife's behavior, and learned to do just the opposite.

The I don't want my daughter to ever date, and I'll threaten the guys she goes out with makes no sense. It's like they don't want their offspring to be happy and live a good life. Very immature, and I hope most of them don't actually have kids. The idea of your daughter dating shouldn't be hateful.
