2222 is stupid dangerous.
Look on the article where it says a motorcyclist was killed in an unrelated crash later that same day.
It's the main artery between central Austin and the hills/lake to the west but it isn't divided, graded or shouldered like a major highway is - it's little better than a neighborhood road. It's steep, lacks a central divider, has a lot of turns.
The icing on the cake is despite being a major artery there is no grade separation and there are multiple stoplights for at-grade intersections that are triggered by just one person from the side street pulling up. So you'll have traffic going 50 coming downhill around a corner and all of a sudden, just because someone pulled up at a side street, the light goes yellow.
To add insult to injury, because it's the way from central Austin to the hills, at night there are always drunks on it, coming from downtown.
