Honest perspective on Simmons

I believe most here would agree that Ben has no mean streak. When he attacks the basket and has his mind on it, he can be a 25 pts 15 rebs a game guy. Not that his averages are bad in any way. It's just that it's usually a quiet 19-12-5. That shows the immense talent the kid has. But when things get close like tonite, he doesn't have it in him to just say "Get out my way I'm goin score". He had a few moves tonite around the basket that had the defender beat for a layup, but he decided to pass for whatever reason. Take that ball hard to the rack and dunk it every single time when you are that close. I know he's young and I get it. But this team needs him to be the man especially when nothin else is goin for them.

I love when a guy 6'10" drives the baseline and instead of jamming it home does an underarm almost behind the back pass to the lane to the other team who goes to the other end and nails a 3

Dude has no heart. No mean streak. No "frick you, you arent showing me up in my house" attitude." No guts. All the talent in the world. No fricking chest. If he only had have the competitive nature of jordan/ bryant

I have to agree with you.
He has all the tools, I think everyone agrees on that.
It's his desire to do more that needs work. He is a young kid and will only improve.
I'm not dumping on him at all, by no means, he just needs a little more tenacity in his game play.

He should take the Tim Duncan route to the NBA.

The thugs in the NBA are going to eat him alive.

I have family & friends who played & coached high school basketball. Their commentary on Ben is his game is more suited for the NBA. He'll have a much better supporting cast and more one on one's to take advantage of his skills. He'll be a 3 in the NBA. Makes sense to me.

If he was born and raised in the US then "toughness" would be a big part of his game. But on the other hand his fundamentals would suck because US = 1 on 1 basketball

I think he is physically tough, he doesnt let anyone push him around. Mentally, he is a freshman asked to carry college basketball. I know its frustrating, but players leaving early have ruined college basketball.

Could you imagine if he had the ferociousness of Russel Westbrook? Or the "Mamba Streak" like Kobe. He'd dominate CBB. Look, you are either born with that trait or you're don't have it. It's not something you can fake or gain in a matter of months. Bottom line, I wish he'd be play with a sense of urgency, or have a coach that would push him out of his comfort level.

A 3 who can't shoot (or is stubbornly reluctant to shoot). Sure he could work on his shot and do the Anthony Davis route to shooting better but I just don't see it right now.

Pretty much a taller Andrew Wiggins to put it into perspective

He is a better college player than wiggins was. He will be better in the nba. The rules are designed to help spread the floor and create driving lanes which he rarely has now because of his lack of an outside shot and poor floor spacing by the team. He is open for lobs and passes on cuts several times a game and our guards are not good enough passers to react quickly and make that play. He has a defender on his back and calling for the ball 8-10 times a game and doesn't get the ball. Our guards just are not good enough passers and I don't think they practice on making post entry passes obviously

If he doesn't change (he is young) yes they will.

That could go for our whole offense last night (not just Ben)...especially in the second half, dribble with no sense of purpose, driving to the goal hoping to get bailed out by a foul and when you do, miss the free throws.
Folks say that's not the coaches fault....to hell it's not, they allowed that to continue and demanded no alternative. And let's not even start on that farce of a zone defense. Was more like stand and watch.
