You nailed it, but this isn't something new. There are people in general that only value themselves as others value them. There's always been people like that.
She has low self-esteem. Even the making babies comment demonstrates that. She said she needs to stay alive to have someone's babies. In her mind, someone values her so she'll stick around, otherwise she'd off herself.

If there are two celebrities who are most likely to O.J. their SO/spouse in a fit of rage, it has to be this chick and Kanye West.
