People trying to pretend like they know how to handle the situation is kind of funny. Mental health problems are so easy for parents to navigate. I'm sure here taking the lock of his door would have stopped everything. I'd blame the cops more than the parents dude they received like 20 warning about those kids and pretty much just ignored it.
Maybe the parents could have paid attention to the hours and hours of uninvolved time they had with their teen. They spent hours making violent movies, collecting weapons, writing angry journals, and shooting guns in the woods.
Why does it seem so unrealistic to know where your kids are and who they spend time with? My parents made every friend I had spend time with my family (out to eat, hang out on weekends, etc).
Any concerned parent that is involved with their child would be able to pick up on sociopathic tendencies.

To get a perspective, how old are you, and do you have any kids?
All parent / child relationship is an exercise on trust, communication, and allowing the child grow.
No child wants to have room invaded all the time, yet parents by all means have a right to know if your child is up to no good.
Was there anything in those kids` youth , anything, that the parents should have forced tbe kids to go to therapy, or whatever you'd do with a potential mass murderer?
I talk to my kids every day. They don't get in trouble, they aren't stashing weapons. But if one of them snapped, I would be the most surprised and disappointed of all.
The only "mistake" these Columbine kids` parents may have was to not know everything they could know about their kids. But really, do you think those kids were going to tell their folks their plans for that fateful day?
Unfortunately, mass murderers are more than likely above the average IQ, and tbese kids knew well how to hide their intentions from everyone, including their friends and teachers. ( Except for the class photo where they act like they're aiming a gun at the photographer)
