Oh shite. It's literally the worst large town/small city in Alaska. It's a depressing place, a native hub on the Kuskokwim River and they do not like white people.
I'd move to Idaho before I'd live in Bethel long term. I could probably survive two months. It's the worst place to get your introduction to Alaska.

yeah I know I will not be staying there permanently, but there is a USFW outpost out there, and apparently the guy who I need to train under lives out there
ETA: I would travel out that way frequently, but live in Anchorage
ETA: Oh jeez, yeah that place is crazy...see people call it Beth-Hell...I wonder how they people over there at the USFW post deal with it all
