We need a longterm solution at head coach.
Why?

The Champ is the one who commented that "we need a longterm solution"
My question is who would he recommend for a long term solution. I doubt there are many coaches with a proven record that we would want AND who wouldn't leave LSU for their "dream job" in the next few years.

I know, didn't mean to imply you did.

Right. We should hire the best coach available and not worry whether or not they'll leave for another job in 5-6 years.

Spurrier is sweating out his Second Independence Bowl Invite right now. HE is a atad busy preparing for that

I was checking one of the flight tracking things to see if there was a flight from Auburn to Baton Rouge or vice versa and didn't find one, but did see that a flight on a twin engine plane went from Columbia SC to Baton Rouge this afternoon. Must've been a jet because it made it in just over an hour and a half. Interesting!

Saban is much more of a sure thing than Spurrier at this point. Our apparent lack of defensive depth right now is screaming for somebody to quickly reload the wagon.

Spurrier would actually be a great hire. We have not had a coach at LSU for more than 5 years since Charlie McClendon. The way that college football is now, coaches don't stay long anyway. Tubby has been at Auburn for 9 years and a lot of people are getting tired of him.
Spurrier would do great at recruiting at LSU. LSU recruits itself, but with Spurrier, we would have legitimacy at the HC position.
If he came and hired a DC like Muschamp, we would stay in the top 5 throughout his tenure, however long it is.
I could deal with that.

You live in SC and I live in Central Alabama. I live in the middle of Auburn country and I talk to Auburn fans all the time. Most would not cry if he left and think that a change would do the program good since Tubby still hasn't won the big one. Sorry that I can't link conversations with real people. Not everything is online.

I don't doubt it but you're probably gonna find fans like that of almost every team.
Fans always think there is someone else out there who can take them to the next level.

That's my point. I think that Tubby has done a good job at Auburn just like I think that Miles has done a good job at LSU. I don't think that either should leave based on their performance. But, with the expectations and money floating around college football today, few coaches stay anywhere for 15 years. Even if they are winning, people get tired of them, unless they are pulling in NC's every other year, which is impossible.
So, saying that Spurrier is too old because he can't stay for 15 years is really a false argument. Who would stay 15 years?

I agree. In this day and age, we like change. Just look at the coaching speculation every offseason.

I agree. He might only stay 3 years or so, but I don't see him coming here. I don't know.

If he was only going to coach for 3 more years, he probably wouldn't come here. But, if he does come, he will likely coach for 5 years and then retire. Who knows, maybe he would win a couple of SEC Titles and a NC and become the AD?
