Most logical explanation I've seen.

African Americans might make up a higher percentage of the population in other parts of the state, but there are enough in Lafayette (and Acadiana as a whole, which doesn't produce much football talent either) to where there should be a few LSU-caliber prospects every year (or at least every couple of years). LSU will just have to be happy with getting stellar baseball prospects out of the 337 until something changes.
