I don't think they do. One just has been around for 20 years while Nirvana was only nationally relevant for 3-4 years. They of course remained relevant after Cobain's death, but they weren't recording new music.

I don't get the Foo Fighter hate? Old people are usually safe?

Do you expect Grohl to bite the head off of a bat onstage? They aren't 25. They have mellowed. We all do. Rage Against the Machine doesn't rage anymore. At least Morello doesn't. That fricking singer does I believe.

People have to realize that artists are going to put out their most relevant shite in their 20-30's. After that you may have glimpses and spots of greatness. People say Bowie's last album was great? He was near death and near 70. But people are still gonna go back to Ziggy Stardust.

I do. I can remember driving around the LSU lakes when I first head SLTS in KLSU. It was the most amazing first listen in my entire life. I bought the album on day 1 of release. I still think it's an amazing song.

On the other hand, nothing else was ever better than mediocre for me. Covers are always listed in their best 5 by people. For me Foo Fighters has a better over all catalogue.

I don't expect anyone to bite the head off a bat. Ever.
On stage antics are not the same as creating interesting music.

Take a band like Sleater-Kinney (who have been around as long as the FF). They put out an album last year that, while still sounding like S-K, experimented with different effects and had this dance-pop-punk vibe. It sounds different from the other albums in their discography.

Even bands that haven't changed their sound all that much like Dinosaur Jr. still seem to sound fresh and crunchy. They have grit and great song writing.

When I throw on a FF record, I just hear a bland, boring, safe band. On top of that, the song writing isn't even that great.

I know this is just my opinion. But I think a lot of others feel the same way.
