He is old and past his time. Just ask Bobby Bowden and Joe Paterno what that is like. Spurrier was way before his time with his offenses and now everyone has caught up. Don't look at Spurriers career in in the mid 90's. Look at it from 99' to 01' and look at South Carolina 6-6. Need I say more. We don't need him and don't want him. LET IT GO!!!

Yea because South Carolina is the same as LSU. And he didnt just get a top 5 recruiting class last year. He's probably finished.

Yeah, cause Florida State at one time had the best recruiting class every year. What happened? Oh thats right. The coach started going down hill. 45-12 UF over FSU, need I say more

Bobby Bowden was winning NCs in his '60s. He's in his 80's now.

Spurrier,Saban,Phat Phil,Tubby,Bowden,Papa Joe etc are all washed up. Other teams know thier schemes and have them pegged. They will be consistant but that is all.
NCAA football is about hot new innovative coaches. In time they will be washed up too...time to reload until other teams figure out the next hot guy.....NCAA football coaching is like a hand gun...shoot someone with a hot bullet and then reload with the next new hot bullet.

Spurrier's more concerned about his golf game than his coaching at this point. Mediocrity, SC, and Spurrier fit well together. If 10 wins piss off LSU fans, he won't fit well here.

Just look at Randy Moss and NE, everyone thought Moss was washed up. Given the right situation, he tore it up. Spurrier would be amazing at LSU.

(emphasis added)

Yeah- the right situation would have been giving Spurrier the job 7 to 15 years ago...

Their's a time I would have loved to have Steve Spurrier or Bobby Bowden as our HC, not now!

I'm not saying the game has passed these men by...but at the least, it's caught up to them.

Their best days as coaches are in the rear a view mirror....If LSU does need a new HC (which I hope they won't). They need to look to the future.

Whatever.

People are not going to stop saying Spurrier because he's so close to Lombardi. They are very good friends and it seems to be clear to the inner circles that he can deliver Spurrier. Spurrier has also made overtures and private comments that lead others to beleive he wants the gig.

So, his name will not go away until Miles stays or LSU hires someone else.

That's just the way it is!
