Eternal patrol. I went to Pearl Harbor for a buddy's wedding a few years back and got to visit the wall. It had all the boats and all the names of the guys that are still on them. There were even a few spots where family members had hung messages and stuff. Very somber site.
There is also a chapel on the sub base. I was told that one of the sub crews built the chapel during WWII and before they left on patrol they donated their ships bell to the church... they never made it back and the bell is still there.
It was the Argonaut:

The ships bell from the submarin USS Argonaut (SS-166) still hangs in the steeple. Argonaut's crew donated the bell before she left on her third war patrol. She was sunk in action off Rabaul January 10, 1943. All hands were lost - their ships bell still tolls for them.
