It was exactly what I was looking for in a 3d Mario game and one of the best games of last gen. I love Galaxy 1 but 2 had even better level design and they got rid of the irritating hub world that wasted a lot of time between stages in 1.
What kind of Mario game are you hoping for? What did Galaxy 2 lack?

Super Mario 64 tried the same thing but to much greater effect. Heck, even Sunshine did it better. I would have preferred they improve the hub in Galaxy 2 but they chose, instead, to simply remove it (more or less). And I can't pinpoint why, but I just enjoyed Galaxy 2's level design a little more.

Regardless, both are fantastic games and I'd be totally happy with a Galaxy 3 even if it was half as brilliant as those first 2 games were.
As far as Paper Mario goes, I haven't enjoyed one of those since The Thousand Year Door, which was a lot of fun with great writing. I'm hesitant to get excited for one of those coming to the Wii U.
