It depends on what you want. Training the same muscle group several times a week won't really help to gain muscle or strength. It is good at maintanence and cardiovascular work. I do circuits a few times a year just to change my routine and shock my system, but I do t expect gains from it. However, anyone who works out regularly will tell you it really always comes down to diet regardless of what you want to accomplish.

I do both. I do traditional Mon-Wednesday and then circuit training with the weight Thursday-Saturday. Works good on my body type.
