I understand the thinking but with that much on the line, coaches are going to take the chance of either winning the coin toss or giving their defense a chance to get a stop or at least hold them to a fg. Whether it's the right call or not, it's the safer choice.

Coaches would rather let the defense lose than make a ballsy decision.
