Caught part of the first episode of the show and it seems like something I'd like. Would like some opinions though.

I enjoyed them, but the writing isn't the easiest To get through. Lots of description and unusual analogies. I've read the original trilogy (the tv show starts with the second book of the trilogy - the elfstones of Shannara). I read another 4 book series and another 3 book series, so I think ve read 10 of the 26 published books in the universe.

The books to me where alot like the Wheel of Time books.
Decent books,Memorable characters.
Alot of characters and skipping in time with the story will confuse alot of people but if you can get past that they are actually decent.
Still waiting on my Xanth movies...

Yes, very much so. Per normal, they are far better than the show.
The first book is a little tough early, you can see his writing get better as he goes though. He really starts to hit his stride in Elfstones. I actually enjoyed Sword because you can see his growth as an author the deeper you get into the book, it was kind of interesting to see that.
I read 17 books from his Shannara series in a month. Seriously, no exaggeration. I may actually be selling myself short.
Give Shannara a shot, you'll enjoy them.

Xanth books. No doubt good series quality. Not sure about a movie. I wonder who owns the rights

Got a little over halfway through the first one and stopped. The only book that I can remember not being able to get through. IWNRI

MTV has been putting that show on a loop. Even more than Teen Mom and Teen Wolf
