I do not recall this movie being played in theaters around Atlanta. Rented last night and thought it was one of the best movies I have seen this year.

It was in big mainstream theaters in Atlanta, just not for too long.

But yes, it was great.

Sicario and Ex Machina are my favorites of the year (ETA: still haven't seen The Revenant or The Room). Alot of what made Ex Machina so good was dialogue between the main characters. Sicario relied more on expression and cinematography to carry the story. Did not realize until after I saw it but Sicario is the second movie that cinematographer Roger Deakins and D. Villeneuve worked together on, the first being Prisoners. Their third will be the new Blade Runner project so maybe it won't be the biggest travesty in movie history.

I can't stop watching Sicario. Since I caught the 1st good streaming copy a few months ago, I've rewatched it at least 20 times. It's just the pure realness of it all. I love that line...... shite SPOILERS I guess.... After the big shootout at the Juarez/El Paso border when someone said "this'll be all over CNN!" And either one of the Delta or CIA "advisors" was like, "shite, this won't even make the El Paso papers!"

This movie basically showed the microcosm of what's become the Narco Wars. It's just the tip of the iceberg on how many thousands of bodies are getting dropped (innocent and cartel affiliated) daily, south of our borders. I stay in touch with a lot of guys that I did contract work with overseas, and the guys that are still doing it, all tell me that's where the new contract $ is at. No more hot spot embassies in Africa and the Middle East. It's all about Mexico and South America now. And although the #'s are way crazier than anything we saw in the OIF and OEF theaters, it's something that NEVER gets talked about. Unless you happen to catch some obscure episode of VICE or something. It's crazy what's really going on down there.

Cool. Just snagged from redbox. Was a 93 on rotten tomatoes so figured it had to be good. Hadn't heard much about it.
