and although we don't think of it as a big shock today, miami over nebraska in '84 -- the game where tom osborne didn't kick the PAT to take the MNC, but instead moronically went for 2 -- was huge at the time. many people were calling neb tGOAT CFB team, and trotting out the ol' "could they compete in the nfl?" bit

Ville lost by 2 points to Georgetown during the regular season.

Beating them in the NCAA as the greatest upset is a myth that the numbers don't back up.

Penn State beat Temple by 2 points during their championship season. (Temple, once declared in the 80's - the worst football program of all-time.)

I don't know if you were alive back then but Miami with Vinny (Heisman Trophy winner) was being touted as the greatest team of all-time.
