it is the ACR-X
No it isn't. That was a previous gen, non street legal version of the ACR.

They're calling it a "production vehicle" that broke all those Laguna Seca lap times but this thing is a tuner car with hand build components and carbon fiber all over it.
Why are you so butthurt about this car?

Instead of blessing the ACR variant with bunches of extra output, Dodge instead turned to an aggressive aerodynamics package that it claims delivers nearly a ton of downforce at the Viper's maximum speed of 177 miles per hour. The total aero package includes an adjustable, twin-element, carbon-fiber rear wing, carbon-fiber diffuser, an extendable front splitter, and dive planes. Those big louvers on the hood? Yeah, they're removable, too. The "race-tuned" suspension uses coil-over Bilstein shocks that offer ten different settings and up to three inches of height adjustment. Kumho Ecsta V720 tires were built specifically for the Viper ACR, and come in 355/30 in back and 295/25 in front, with 19-inch wheels at all four corners. Along with the aero improvements, Dodge is claiming the Viper can pull a race-car-like 1.5Gs in higher-speed turns. Carbon-ceramic brakes with six-piston calipers add the stopping power that's greater or equal to the ACR's cornering performance.
Yeah, some production vehicle.
Wonder how many other "production vehicles" are rolling around the streets with ceramic fricking brakes.

They are an option on a good number of production vehicles. This is from 2012, and there are many more models that offer the upgrade these days:

Finally, there are the brakes. Brembo used the carbon-ceramic technology from its Formula One program and applied it to the CCM brake discs found in the Enzo. Now you can find these carbon ceramic brakes in all Ferrari models and in supercars like the Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren, Pagani Zonda, Aston Martin DBS and the Chevrolet Corvette ZR1.

Take the $83,000 Porsche 911 Carrera, for example. While far from cheap, it’s certainly more accessible than a Ferrari of Lamborghini and can be equipped with the pricey brakes – a steep $8,520 addition. Further down the scale, these high-performance components can now also be factory equipped on cars like the BMW M3 or Porsche Boxster, both of which are about $60,000.

On September 14, 2011, on the Nürburgring Nordschleife, a 2010 Dodge Viper SRT10 ACR completed the sixth fastest production, street-legal car lap ever recorded with a 7:12.13 elapsed time.[61] Chrysler's press release claimed a new production car lap record, although three faster laps had been recorded more than two years earlier, albeit by very specialized low production vehicles.
so it was the sixth fastest, not the fastest but Chrysler "claimed" it to be the fastest.

Proof of what? I already posted the lap times. I already blew up your ceramic brake argument. What else do I need to do? And where exactly did I insult anyone?

Probably the sketchiest thing about the Viper are its Tires.
Stickier than racing slicks basically.
Carbon fiber/adjustable suspension/ceramic brakes are not a big deal at all.

Where exactly am I wrong? We're talking about he car in the OP. Your link and quotes have nothing to do with that.

Agreed, but they are basically lifetime of the car items. Shouldn't have to replace discs and maybe even pads IIRC.

We're talking about the car in the OP. I'm beginning to wonder if you actually are as dumb as you seemed in that mpg thread.
ETA: This is an actual insult in case you couldn't piece it together.

As are the McLaren P-1, Porsche 918, and Ferrari LaFerrari...the new ACR is faster around Laguna Seca than two out of those three and was very close to being faster than all three...and that's at 10x's less money. So what's your point?

i'm not insulted at all since you're obviously not smart enough to see that my response was to Jordan about the lap times. Again, you're trying to argue with me about something i was talking about( and responded to that particular poster) and trying to run with an argument of your own.
You're looking very foolish right now.

So I guess there is a giant media conspiracy to report the contrary:
quote:
n fact, the new Viper ACR has not only beat the lap times of its own predecessor as it set out to, but took the production-car lap record at 13 tracks across the country.
quote:
After setting a whopping 13 production car benchmarks in the 2016 Viper ACR, though, Dodge has plenty of reason to gloat.
quote:
At the time of the car’s reveal, we said it was going to be a bloodbath when it came to the amount of track records that would be destroyed—and we’re glad to report that we were correct in our thinking. Dodge has confirmed that its latest Viper ACR has set 13 production car lap records.

see my other posts. I'm just hung up on calling it a production car when the thing has it's own set of race tires made specifically for it. On a race course tires are everything. As evident the 1.5g's the thing pulls around the skidpad.

Try to keep up with the times. Carbon fiber and carbon ceramic brakes aren't only for million dollar race cars anymore. The tech has become significantly more affordable...hell, the Alfa Romeo 4C has a carbon fiber tub and can be had for ~$70k. Also pretty much all German manufacturers offer carbon ceramic brake upgrades on top tier performance models. Didn't the Corvette ZR1 have carbon ceramic breaks 5 years ago?
