My only problem with the sub was that Simmons had played so few minutes in the first half. There was no reason he needed to sit to get a rest. He averages around 36 min per game right?

The best conditioned players still gets winded. It's not that Simmons couldn't have played through it, but it's solid coaching to use the timeouts as a way to rest players. He missed 52 seconds and got about 4-5 real minutes of rest. Up 10 makes it an easy decision.

He cramped in the Vandy game from playing a lot of minutes. Were you more concerned when he cramped in the Vandy game or when he was substituted for in the KY game. I was more concerned about the cramps than the substitution plan of Jones.
I suspect that Quarterman was directed to handle the ball more as a result of Simmons cramping.
