Our standards on 'pathetic' may not be the same, but I'd argue Year 1 should be a lot better with Beckham, Landry, Mett, and Jeremy Hill (all in the NFL and the first two superstars). We were outside the top 30 in total offense, with that talent that's insane.

lol

Statistically, it was the best offense in the history of LSU football.

LSU isn't going to gain a ton of yards and be near the top of the list in yardage in the nation because they don't run an up-tempo, no huddle spread offense that runs a million plays per game.

They still ran the ball a lot and controlled time of possession. That's LSU's game.

Tom Brady, Odell Beckham Jr, Jarvis Landry, and JJ Watt. One of these doesn't belong. Do you know why?

Total offense is raw data. LSU was also 7th in the country in yards per play.

Mett was 2nd in the country with 10.4 (only behind Winston) in yards per attempt.

Using a cut off of 200 carries, Jeremy Hill was 3rd in the country in yards per carry with a 6.9 average. Using a base of 50 carries, Magee was 15th in the country with a 7.3 average.

Using a base of 50 catches Beckham (19.53) was behind only Mike Evans (20.20) and Landry was 37th (15.49) in the country in yards per reception. However, using a base of 75 catches, Landry was 3rd in the country in yards per reception.

LSU doesn't run enough plays to be high in total offense.

Let me do a simple exercise with you. Let's just use only Mett, Hill, and Magee for this. Let's say Mett throws it 30 times per game in 12 games using his ypa, Hill runs it 20 times per game using his ypc and Magee runs it 10 times per game using his ypc.

Mett 10.4 × 30 = 312
312 x 12 games = 3744 yards

Hill 6.9 × 20 = 138
138 × 12 = 1656 yards

Magee 7.3 × 10 = 73
73 × 12 = 876 yards

3744 + 1656 + 876 = 6276 yards

6276 ÷ 12 = 523 yards per game

523 ypg = 5th in 2013, 7th in 2014, & 10th in 2015 (in country)

See what I'm saying?
