didn't jeff bezos' company do this about a week ago? huge accomplishment for sure, but weren't they beat to the punch?

They did it with no payload and sub orbital velocities. I don't think they even left the atmosphere. Bezos' was the same thing Spacex has been doing with Grasshopper for a while now.

The landing you are referring to was a big deal as well, but not on the same level as this. I don't want to go on because I don't want to detract from what that other company did accomplish though.
