RPI is meaningless right now. Good teams are playing mostly bad teams for the first two months of the season. That skews the rankings because your SOS and your opponent's SOS are important factors in the rankings. It will correct itself once conf. play starts for everyone.
The two biggest things to look for going forward are:
1. Who LSU beats (obviously a win over UK is much bigger than one over say, Mizzou)
2. Where they beat them. (Beating Vandy is big. Beating Vandy at Vandy is HUGE)
Good teams can win anywhere. Avg. teams only win at home. The committee rewards those who show they can consistently win away from home. Last year's LSU team was a perfect example of that. LSU had some ugly losses in conf. play to bad teams (Miss. St., Auburn x2, Mizzou, Tenn.). Despite that and a fairly weak RPI they still made the field pretty comfortably. The reason is that they were 6-1 against NCAAT teams, including going 4-0 on the road against those teams (@ WVU, UAB, Ole Miss, Ark).
I know it sounds crazy, but if LSU can only win one game in the first week of SEC play, I'd take a win AT Vandy over a home win vs. UK

I think we looked like a completely different team with Victor/Hornsby in the game
I will agree with that.

Dude god teams play good teams. Are you flippin crazy!lsu will need a couple of wins over a uk ok vandy s Carolina uk again and 2 aec tourney wins. Cause Jj has a couple more bad losses on this year to try to circumvent ! LSU has a huge mountain to climb! Cause they will lose more games that they are not supposed to lose to. Btw when did a press on tip 20 team have to fight its way into tourney with all this poorly coached talent ?
