When mentioning the poorer performing students that were admitted ahead of this girl they mention grades and test scores. However, when trying to claim there were better performing minorities that were also not admitted, salon only mentions grades.

Care to address my retort of the section of the article you so gleefully made the cornerstone of your position?

Of the 841 students admitted under these criteria, 47 had worse AI/PAI scores (a combination of the holistic measure, grades, and test scores) than Fisher, and 42 of them were white. On the other end, UT rejected 168 black and Latino students with scores equal to or better than Fisher’s.

Now bash the source all you want, but it does not change the factual data.

From your article:

quote:

For the remaining 8 percent of in-state spots, UT Austin used a comprehensive approach that weighed grades and test scores along with essays, leadership, activities, service to the community, and “special circumstances.” Those ranged from socioeconomic status and school quality, to family background and race. As the university’s director of admissions explained for the 5th Circuit, “[R]ace provides—like language, whether or not someone is the first in their family to attend college, and family responsibilities—important context in which to evaluate applicants, and is only one aspect of the diversity that the University seeks to attain.”

My point stands immaterially contested by your link.

AI/PAI scores

Is the applicant's race factored into this score at all?

Decided to look it up and this is what I found:

quote:

The Academic Index (“AI”) is based on standardized test scores and high school class rank, while the Personal Achievement Index (“PAI”) reflects the strength of the applicant’s essays and a “personal achievement score.” To calculate the personal achievement score, UT considers the applicant’s leadership abilities, awards and honors, work experience, extracurricular activities, and “special circumstances,” which may include socioeconomic status, family status, and race.
