Once a player is done playing at LSU or any other school for that matter and does not end up on an NFL roster which most don't, do they have any type of health benefits coming to them to aid in the financial coverage of injuries and problems that came about from playing football?

From investigative shows I've watched they get nothing from the University after they leave.

I am sure they're something in the court system trying to change this.

As a long time LSU supporter and season ticket holder I think we should take care of these player's if they were injured while at LSU

if it is an injury sustained by the athlete will playing for the university in the sport that they are there to play, they are covered for 4 years after they are done. Also they go through an exit physical at the end of their time

Sounds good, not sure. Would be sort of like VA helping out vets that have service related injuries.

Considering that many of them got a free education, I would hope that they were able to turn that into finding a job with decent health benefits.

Not that I am aware of. A certain OL tackle that played on the 07 team stayed his senior year after being projected in the 3rd round as a junior. After his senior year he was done due to knee problems.

Lloyds denied his disability claim 2 years later. He is not bitter and has moved on with his life (because that is just the kind of guy he is) He did graduate.

I just think it is wrong. Something needs to be done.

As a former collegiate football player flat suffers from Post-concussion issues, I can say that there currently isn't any medical coverage for former student athletes. Now, this goes back beyond 10 years, so maybe the current guys get some type of medical insurance/support. In exchange for the full scholarship, it is part of the price that is paid and everyone knows that there is an inherited risk for serious injury.
