the CDC, NIH, NIMH, WHO, HHC, APA and your very own health insurance company (assuming you have first party coverage) say it's a disease, which last time i checked said insurance company doesn't cover your in-house stay at the Gray Bar Motel, but WILL cover your treatment/rehab. that's because they cover health care related treatment, and they have concluded with all of modern medicine that substance abuse disorder is in fact a disease. that's because it is.
