2. Manhattan Beach and Hermosa Beach are 2 of my favorite places to hang out. Both are relatively small beach towns, unlike Santa Monica. I find Hermosa to be a bit of a younger crowd with several bars and some restaurants if you're looking to roam the beach, eat and drink. Manhattan is a slightly more upscale version of Hermosa, with a slightly older crowd. Both beaches are great. I'd recommend checking both those places out just to explore. There are a lot of restaurant options at both so there's plenty to choose from.

I spent some time in those areas when I worked there in 2008. Spent about 9 months right on the border of Torrance and Redondo Beach. I plan on visiting with one of my old friends in the Southbay that Friday, going to a concert at the Staples center Sat night, just trying to fill out Wed and Thurs since she'll be working during the week.
