I think we are saying the same thing in a different way. My point is that all this "chatter" will not be continuous from now through next year (national media speaking). On the Rant, I'm sure it will be.

The Mile's story will be picked up depending on next year's record. If a great season, the national media will say how they cannot believe LSU almost fired Miles and the media that said look at trends and not the past will be ridiculed. If Miles has a horrible season, the media that was looking at trends and not the past will say, "I told you so."

But for now, Miles will not be a story, except here and maybe a bit after the bowl game.

You're right about this. My primary point was that as someone who believes that Miles should have been fired, I am thankful that the shitstorm became public.

The bowl season, national signing day and preseason rankings will all have LSU in the discussion. The discussion around all of those will center around not only football, but how the Miles debacle is affecting all of these things.

The national shock and outrage over Miles potentially getting fired this year won't be so shocking next year because the spotlight won't be on a 3 game losing streak.

I think it's useful that the issues were brought to light this year so that if next year goes poorly we can make a move.

All of that said, I genuinely WANT Miles to win the bowl game, reel the recruiting class in and win the west next year. Maybe Miles knowing he's on the hot seat is what it takes for him to change some things.
