I was looking at 2014 GMC Canyon for my father to get him out of his fullsize truck.
The dealer had a 2014 old body style and a 2015 new body style. I drove both and bought 2015 4x2, 4-door, v-6 due to it drove well for smaller truck.
Price wise they are higher than a fullsize similar package due to not much rebates on them. Price was slightly more than the Nissan Frontier and the Toyota Tacoma.
It has been 6 months and my father has around 5,000 miles in his. He has had a few typical GM electrical quirks which the dealer fixed. As far as interior it is holding up so far knock on wood. For him it is a lot easier to drive, more than enough power, and still smooth after 6 months.

Do you live outside the US? 2014 Canyon was not a thing, and the old body style ended production in 2012.
