After working for State Farm for a few years I know for a fact they re run MVR's at renewal. Granted, this is in TX so I do not know the procedures in other states. Yes, it cost money to run MVRs, but not nearly as much as paying out claims that risky drivers cause. Insurance companies gladly pay for MVRs to either nonrenew or increase premiums.
