To contrast what Rex said in his OP, take a look at first time starting QBs under Saban:
2009: Greg McElroy (National Championship)
2011: AJ McCarron (National Championship)
2014: Blake Sims (SEC Championship)
2015: Jake Coker (11-1 regular season; possible SEC Championship on the way)
2009: Greg McElroy (National Championship)
2011: AJ McCarron (National Championship)
2014: Blake Sims (SEC Championship)

McElroy - Junior in the system for three years
McCarron - RS Soph in the system for three years
Blake Sims - Senior in the system for years
Coker - Senior in the system for two years
