There's only one reason he didn't say this earlier in the week. Because we might have lost tonight. not saying anything was the least risky move for Alleva personally, and he couldn't care less how much it hurt LSU.
Just like giving Les an extension years ago. He didn't care if it was best for the program. He just didn't want to be the AD that let Miles go.
This is of course all speculation, but it's what makes the most sense of all the actions Alleca takes.
