quote:Yes, Jordan Jefferson. Oh wait, the guy who played the most important position on offense didn't even make it to an NFL training camp.
Am I missing anyone?
Sometimes where you lack talent is more important than where you have it because of match ups. Nick Saban, and Alabama, were able to capitalize on the lack of talent at QB in a one game scenario.

So let me get this straight. If a team has more future pros than thier opponent they should always win. Awesome, we don't even need to play the games anymore. So Saban must suck because he lost to Ole Miss the last 2 years and Auburn and OK a couple of years ago. There's no doubt there is an obvious correlation between talent and success but it's far from absolute.
The poster who noted we lacked high level OL talent makes s good point.

And that talent went through a regular season gauntlet the likes of which will most likely never happen again in CFB history. Not only did that talent go unbeaten and win the SEC, they blew out every opponent minus Bama, in a game they WON ON THE ROAD.
The problem with this feat was the fact that the talking heads did not approve of a team like LSU accomplishing this feat, thus the need for a "rematch".
I still stand by my statement from four years ago:
The best thing that could have happened to LSU that year would have been to lose to Bama 9-6, and go to the Sugar Bowl. There would have been no rematch for LSU (rightfully so). Bama would have faced Oklahoma State and won the BCS.
