The difference between you and I is that I understand how hard it is to generate and maintain elite success, and I respect the hell out of Miles for what he has done. I also am not naïve enough to believe that LSU can have its pick of the litter to replace Miles, nor is there much likelihood that the replacement outperforms Miles.

My point is, is that Miles replacement at OSU, Mike Gundy, if given the job and had the same recruiters, players, and defensive coordinators, could have done just as good of a job and maybe better. Miles isn't this great coach, he's the beneficiary of great defenses and great players brought by great recruiters. Hugh Freeze, a glorified High school coach, who was coaching High School whenever Les Miles was head coach at OSU, has beaten Bama twice in a row. i think everyone saying that we can't find a coach as good as miles is full of sh*t and won't look at things as they are. If we have a great DC and great recruiters then we can run the damn wing-t and have the same success Les Miles has had.

No one is saying it is impossible, but many people are having trouble grasping how small the margin for error actually is. Big-time, top-notch hires have failed before, and up-and-coming coaches fail all the time. Finding the right guy is often a crapshoot, and getting it right on your first try is seldom. None of that necessarily means Miles should stay, but it isn't as cut and dry as people like to think.
