It really comes down to what you are looking for as far as features and quality. I have been shopping for a new 65 inch for the past few months.
The Vizios had the worst picture out of the 4 models I examined.
The LG offer a good but not great picture. Many of their TV's images seem washed out compared to other brands.
It was a tough decision between the Sony 850 and Samsung 8500 series but the Samsung won it out for me because they support a bunch of the standards that the Sony does not. The Samsung also feature a connect box that can be upgraded in the future if new standards come out. The Samsung usually retails for $2999 but can be currently had for $1997. Pair that with a square trade warranty from Costco for $99 and you will be good to go for the long haul.
