Why do you think you need a hammer?
Don't really think I need it, I just like the option of being able to de-cock the gun. Just a personal thing that would make me feel better about having a loaded gun in my waistband.
Just curious, is the shield a double action like the bodyguard?

No it's striker fired like a glock but has a safety.
ETA: If you have a gun in your waistband in the holster is should not be uncocked.
The 938 is in the 1911 family. It's single action. That means it has to be cocked to shoot. The proper way to carry it is cocked with the safety engaged.
