Miles was hired under Skip Bertman. As AD, I am sure Alleva wants his mark on the heart of the athletic program. He doesn't just want a successful program, he wants a successful program he is responsible for putting together. A lot of the "fire Miles" talk is manufacture out of Alleva's office. I doubt Miles would admit it, but I am sure that added pressure doesn't help anything.

In 2011 Miles made a direct pitch to Jindal to have Alleva fired. BJ then directed the BOS to keep Miles happy (but not get rid of Alleva). Miles was pissed about the compliance office and felt Alleva was behind it
It was a bad play by Miles at a time when he thought he had major power at LSU
Neither Alleva or several members of the BOS have forgotten. This event along with the pseudo flirtation with Arkansas presumably changed some peoples perceptions of Miles. I suspect his supply of good will was exhausted by those two actions with the people who call the shots and donate the big money.
Just an FYI for those that want to believe Alleva is a total goon gunning for Les for no reason

I can't give you internet proof, but it is true. The source is beyond reproach and the sequence was told to me several years ago before all this latest stuff came up
