So what you are saying is accept the fact we will rarely if ever beam ALA- This means we accept we may rarely if ever win the west, SECCG and a NC. So you are willing to be just a good program not the best program? This post was edited on 11/18 at 6:19 am

WTF does that mean? LSU should just give up? You do realize LSU baseball has six natty's in 25 years after winning zero in, oh, I don't know, the previous 90 years, don't you?

This, this, 1,000 times this. What makes people think LSU is "entitled" to be the best football program in the country? It's downright laughable. There are so many more programs across the country who have far more history than we do and the means to accomplish more. Bama lucked into Saban, but they are far more steeped in history and tradition as a football powerhouse than we are. Ditto Ohio State, Michigan, Notre Dame, USC, etc.
Saban was an up and comer (and far more of those types have failed elsewhere) who put us on the map, and he (like most coaches would) moved on when the opportunity presented itself. Les Miles stepped in and kept us relevant. When Les is gone, more than likely we'll go back to our historical position of an occasional top 20 team. The only way we continue our success is to luck into another Saban, and look how many great programs have attempted this and failed miserably. Even with Les' historical run of success, we average around a Top 7 recruiting class. And that's about what we've averaged over the years. As I've said before, set the criteria for what the coach must accomplish to keep you happy, and THEN ask yourself how many coaches have actually accomplished your set of criteria.
