They didn't really "attack" the player who received the entry pass with as much pressure as Coleman did in the '12-'13.

I don't think the purpose of that particular press last night was to get a very aggressive trap on the person with the ball. Not the one taking it up court anyway. It was more of a 3/4 court press.

The downfall of a press is if you are able to break it easily with the pass you will have a 2 on 1/3 on 2 opportunity at the rim. It happened a few times, but it also forced multiple rushed shots. They weren't really close because of the press, they were close because they were in set offenses and drained a few 3's. I think the press took away most of those 3 point looks and is the reason we went on that huge run to end the half.

My only real issue I saw with the press last night was that the few times they did break it and managed to slow it down to get set we seemed a bit lost transitioning back into our man-to-man defense. Would almost rather see us go from a press to zone D when this happens, so we don't have guys running all over the court trying to find their man. It is a huge advantage though that we can pretty much guard anybody with our 1-4 interchangeably. That's a huge plus for our defense.
