They were pretty darn close at one point. They’re not anymore.

And now with the benefit of hindsight, we can see that LSU’s 7-0 record heading into the Alabama game this year should have given more scrutiny. The Tigers needed a lot of luck to beat a good but limited Mississippi State. They had trouble closing out Syracuse. They gave up 22 points to Eastern Michigan, 24 to South Carolina and 28 to Florida without quarterback Will Grier — teams that have all struggled badly on offense this season. But because LSU had running back Leonard Fournette rolling toward the Heisman, those concerns were not flashing in bright lights.

But getting destroyed by Alabama and Arkansas in consecutive weeks by a combined 61-30 is the big reveal, and the Tigers are in serious danger of three consecutive losses heading to a rested Ole Miss team next weekend.

ALL TRUE. And all "realitigers" knew from how we got to 7-0 ... that there was good possibility that it was "smoke & mirrors" yet again.

LSU beat a severely over rated Auburn team then things started looking on the up. The D struggles w weaker teams should have been a sign, but LSU kept winning. The inability to finish off UF was bad. 0-2 after the bye feels like sky is falling but no reason this team still doesn't beat Ole Miss and Aggie. They have no D either.
