Anyone have PRK surgery?

My fiancé (no pics) had LASIK a year ago. It worked as she went from -4.75 prescription to -1.25. Since she still has a mild prescription coming through, so she is scheduled for PRK as an enhancement next week. She took off of work for 2 weeks since the recovery is longer, but she started reading blogs of other people's experiences and now she's second-guessing it. She is a runner and works on a computer. Anyone here had it and feel it was worth the hell?
TIA

I had PRK done last summer because they said my cornea was too thin. recovery time is long but it came out perfect. also, I was nervous when one eye was healing faster the other one. don't worry abut it, it's pretty normal and everything was perfect at the end.

I'm looking to get surgery done soon also. I'm at a -1.75. Not sure what to go with.

I had PRK as an alternative to LASIK rather than an enhancement. As mentioned the recovery time is much longer but worth it. I went from -6.75 to normal vision in about 3 months. It's kinda crazy how things get just a little bit clearer every morning when you wake up.
The only complication that I had was the first night I went to sleep and the protective contact lens fell out, and the pain from what was basically an exposed eyeball without a cornea was excruciating. Once I went to the doc and got that back in, it was smooth sailing from there. I felt normal after about 3 days. 2 weeks should be more than enough time off to recover.

I read that some people had terrible pain for the first few days. I'm lucky I guess because personally I experienced pretty much zero pain.

i had PRK done almost 10 years ago .. it is the best thing i have ever done. ,,,, after the procedure i had to stay in a dark room for 3 days the surgery was done on wednesday on thursday i has little pain have frozen peas handy to put on her eyelids and a warm wet wash cloth to clean the gel drops off….. but at about 3 AM friday it felt like my eyes were getting ripped out… took a pain pill and was good to go ….. by monday i was cleared to drive…. had to wear sunglasses for 6 months after that and use the eye wetting drops …. that was a key point.

I had it done 8 years ago. Recovery time was about a week to go back to work. It was about a month till I felt comfortable with my all around vision. Glad I had it done but wouldn't want to go through it again.

It took me about 5 days to get back to being able to see normally. I highly recommend getting some audio books ahead of time because there's nothing else that you can do.
It was worth it. I'm a year out from the surgery and seeing 20/15

went from -7 and -7.25 to normal in about 1 month. I really couldn't see crap for about 1 week which sucked, really didn't get close to "normal" for about 2 weeks. All gravy after 1 month. 4 years out, still great. It hurts like a bish because its basically a corneal abrasion for a week. My eyes suck with contacts (partly why i got prk) so trying to sleep with protectives at night was awful. I took them out after 3 days and it felt so much better.
Don't let them sell you on Lasek either, where they supposedly lay a layer of epithelium back over... you still degrade it all away, it takes longer if anything.
Chug that Vit c afterwards too. Best thing to combat the lens "haze"
Totally worth it, do it again in a heartbeat... of course I was legally blind, so there is that

Glad I did it 10 years ago. It was a very painful experience the first couple of days. Any kind of light is bothersome for about a week. I wore my sunglasses at work with the lights out in my office for a week. When I went back for my check up to get the protective lens removed, it stuck to my eye and partially tore my cornea which made the healing start from scratch in that eye. It was very frustrating for a total of about 3-4 weeks until my eyes totally healed. Since then I've had no issues except I do notice now that one eye doesn't see as clear as the other. Worth it but be prepared to be miserable for about a week.

I had PRK 2 weeks ago on a Friday afternoon... I returned to work Wednesday. I wasn't able to see until Monday afternoon.
ETA the Wednesday after surgery
