I watched the video first, not knowing anything about the story. Judging the reaction, I would've thought the professor dressed like little black sambo running from a tiger for Halloween.
Then I read the email. I guess I need to check my privilege cause I still don't understand wtf is so offensive.

Someone in the Reddit thread said the professor's wife penned the email (she also was a professor).The email does talk about wearing a sari when they lived in Bangladesh which a woman's article of clothing. Not sure though.

She is offended because he doesn't give a shite if white people dress as black or Asians for Halloween. He says he wouldn't do it but who cares if someone else does it. He is right who gives a flying frick.
