I know of someone in Ascension Parish that was arrested for walking around his property with a shotgun.

He never pointed it at anyone, but had fired it off before and assaulted the neighbors with it and other weapons.

I've never thought of it as a crime to open carry on your own property as long as you weren't using the weapon to intimidate or threaten others.

Are you asking me if this person has committed a crime or if he would be arrested? You can be arrested for essentially anything at all, or for nothing. You're not going to be successfully prosecuted for "walking down your driveway to your car" unless you're prohibited from possessing the weapon...or unless you omitted that you decided to give your neighbors a glimpse down the barrel or were screaming that you were coming to kill them. There's nothing to support that walking down your driveway to your car would constitute a reasonable apprehension of receiving a battery.
