My submarine stopped in Port Everglades (Miami/Lauderdale)
CO had a mistress who was related to the Pilot Pen company fortune.
She covered a party for the entire ship (120 sailors). I believe the tab was over $18K but I never saw it firsthand.
Capt. Sullivan was the best GD skipper. Smart, Salty, drank like an enlisted. He would have us stop in P-EVG all the freakin time just so he could frick her.
