UGA is in a tough spot. On the one hand you could argue that Richt has been underachieving for some time now. On the other hand, he hasn't been bad enough to make it a no-brainer for UGA to move on. The concern is that before you fire a guy who has won his entire time there (albeit not at a national championship level), you better make sure the next guy is a likely championship level coach.

Texas, USC and UF all are some of the best jobs in the land, yet none were able to bring in marquee coaches. What makes UGA think they can land the "big fish"? The reality is that a coach can win and get paid very well at lesser programs today with lower expectations.

Timing is everything. Bama, Ohio St. and Michigan were in the right place at the right time to get big time championship coaches. Would UGA be in that position after this year?

Yes, because they don't have a revolving door type establishment and neither does LSU.
