I read up on this, maybe the wiki didn't do a good job of explaining it. From what I read, she was drunk and high, killed people in a wrong way wreck, and her family didn't want to admit that she was that type of substance abuser. They ran the tests multiple times and always has the same toxicology results.

I live in NYC and travel on the Taconic to my sister's upstate. It's a horrible road, winding, no lights, incredibly confusing on/off ramps. Something was definitely off w/ her that day, but that road played a part in the accident.

Zodiac is a strange one.
That highly irresponsible woman was drunk and high while driving a car full of kids. The only mystery is how the family expects us to believe that she did not have a long term problem. The family knows she was habitually taking stimulants during the day to stay alert at her job (and to keep up with her kids) and then using marijuana to help calm her down. They know alcohol was consumed at the campground and that it was available in the van.
It's not a mystery how she ended up crashing the van.
