Lord yes. Here's what I did when buying my wife's car: I had the cars.com app on my phone and had several VERY similar examples as the one I went to see locally. The local dealer was $4,500 higher than the exact same car in Dallas. I showed it to him and said if he could beat that price I'd buy it today. He did so I bought it. You shouldn't have to go through all that to get a "fair" price but at least with technology you have a leg up.
You should always search for the specific make, model, year, trim, engine, etc. on cars.com then sort by lowest price within 500 or 1000 miles. When I've done that with trucks Mac Haik in Houston is usually the cheapest by far.
