A couple of points to add to this thread...
I'm a huge horror fan, but I get legit scared and often times cover my face with a pillow (I know...). I saw the conjuring on an international flight, and was so scared I shut the screen in front of me multiple times. The movie was awesome!
And in defense of babadook, the film does a great job of creating a sense of anxiety without the usual horror tropes. It could have been much more though.
