We play more backups in the second half. Our backup linebackers couldnt cover a paraplegic. In close games beckwith and debo will play the majority of the time. The defense is fine. If one of our 12 kickers on scholarship was allowed to kick the ball in the endzone we'd look even better. I like our chances if a team has to drive 75 yards but bradley dale. We gave up 378 yards to moo st in game 1. Havent allowed 300 in a game since.

Im concerned about you though.

The issues tend to start in the second half because that is when fatigue shows up and we start subbing. Also, note that the staff subbed throughout the EMU game, and for 3/4 of the Syracuse games, because they thought/knew they could get away with it.

You guys are complaining about the D-Line, but the depth there is at least capable of holding up and keeping the run in check. The backup LBs have been pretty poor across the board, and beyond White and Tolliver, the CBs are ??? as well. However, the staff HAS to play them to try and find combos that work, and guys (especially younger guys), who can step forward and play better down the stretch.

Look, this is what many of us, myself included, asked for. We have a more aggressive defense. If you look back and are honest with yourself, we really didn't have that much more depth on D last year. At least not with guys who Chavis would put on field. It is likely that depth played a role in his conservative schemes.

Now we are more aggressive defense, especially early in games, and it has produced a few more sacks and turnovers. However, that style requires more energy to play, and more depth to compensate. That is likely why the staff turns down the heat and subs liberally as soon as they think they can get away with it. That has worked ok since the State game.
